Paul Nagin, ‘Green’ homeowner from Pomona will show a 10 minute clip from the Green Planet TV show which featured the “Green” home the Nagins built in Pomona, NY. Talk with Paul about his experiences building and living in a “Green” home.

NY-NJ Trail Conference will discuss recent Torne Valley land acquisitions, local trails and special features along the Trail Routes.

The Value and Beauty of the Torne Valley (Conference Center)

Geoff Welch, Chair of the Ramapo River Ramapo River Committee, Ramapo Watershed Keeper, Curator of Harmony Hall and Jasper Francis Cropsey scholar will discuss history of the Ramapo Pass area and show paintings of the Torne Valley landscape from the 1800s.

Critical Treasures of the Highlands (Conference Center)

Don Steinmetz, Director of the Highlands Environmental Research Institute will talk about the Torne Valley and the NYS Highlands water, forests, research, biodiversity and the Ramapo Green Print GIS System.

Gardening With Native Plants (Garden and Greenhouse)

Bill Day, Threefold Foundation/Pfeiffer Center, and Horticulturalist for the RCSWMA Native Plants Garden will give tours and answer questions about gardening with native plants and Backyard Composting techniques.

Worm Composting (Greenhouse)

Janet Fenton will talk about what worms can do for you and your plants!

Saving the historic Ramapo Salt Box House (presentation located off-site in building across the street from the St. Lawrence Recreation Center)

Chuck Stead, Environmental Sciences professor, hunter/trapper, historian and storyteller will give a guided tour and presentation about the in- progress restoration of a pre-Revolutionary period Salt Box House.
