Since our creation in 1994, the Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority has been working to achieve a coordinated approach to managing waste generated by residents, businesses, schools and municipalities. A big part of our mission is to educate the public and create increased awareness of the importance of waste reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, hazardous waste disposal and conservation.
Our outreach strategy includes an interactive environmental education center, on-site presentations, and table-top exhibits. We work closely with municipalities, schools and businesses to help achieve our goal of maximized waste diversion. The more waste we divert from the waste stream into recycling or reuse programs, the more we save the taxpayers of our community. Not to mention decreasing our impact on the environment.
